TEMPE, Ariz. — Arizona State football delivered a statement performance Saturday night, defeating Texas State 34-15 in front of an energized home crowd. After a tough road loss to Mississippi State the week before, the Sun Devils responded with balance, explosiveness, and a defense that suffocated one of the nation’s highest-scoring offenses.

Quarterback Sam Leavitt led the way with two passing touchdowns and an early rushing score. His connection with wide receiver Jordyn Tyson proved lethal, as Tyson hauled in six passes for 105 yards, including a dazzling touchdown reception after Leavitt scrambled to extend the play.

With starting running back Kyson Brown sidelined, Raleek Brown emerged as the difference-maker. On just 12 carries, he piled up 144 rushing yards, highlighted by a 75-yard touchdown run in the third quarter that blew the game wide open.

Arizona State’s defense deserves equal credit. Facing a Texas State team that entered the game averaging nearly 47.5 points and 500 yards of offense per contest, the Sun Devils limited the Bobcats to just 15 points and forced them into long, grinding drives that rarely paid off. Quarterback Brad Jackson managed one passing and one rushing touchdown, but much of Texas State’s production came late with the game already decided.

The victory pushes ASU to 2-1 on the season and gives head coach Kenny Dillingham’s squad momentum as they prepare for the heart of Big 12 play. The Sun Devils showed they can win with explosive plays on offense and a defense capable of dictating the tempo against even the most high-powered attacks.
