The Circuit of the Americas (COTA) delivered another thrilling NASCAR Cup Series road course showdown, packed with aggressive moves, costly penalties, and strategic pit stops. Christopher Bell emerged victorious, capturing his second consecutive win of the season and solidifying his early-season dominance. From Kyle Busch’s late-race charge to multiple cautions shaking up the field, here’s how the action unfolded.

And the green flag waves!

Ross Chastain dive-bombs Chase Elliott heading into turn one after the green flag, and sends him to the back of the pack after spinning him Elliott out.

Tyler Reddick comes out of the first turn with the lead. He would lead the first 8 laps.

Xfinity Series race winner from yesterday, Connor Zilisch had a right front tire go down on the lead lap. He would make it to the pits and not bring out the caution.

Green flag pitstops with 4 laps to go in the first stage.

Penalty: Michael McDowell- Crew over the wall too soon. He will need to serve a pass-through penalty where he comes back around and drives down pit road at pit road speed.

End of the first stage sees Bubba Wallace take the stage win, followed by Joey Logano, Shane Van Gisbergen, Kyle Busch, Chase Elliott, Tyler Reddick, Kyle Larson, Daniel Suarez, William Byron, and AJ Allmendinger. 

Start of Stage 2: Shane Van Gisbergen and Kyle Busch head into turn 1. SVG comes out with the lead.

Kyle Busch takes the lead from SVG heading into turn one on lap 27. These were the first laps Kyle Busch had lead on a road course since 2023.

Penalty: Kyle Larson-Turn 3. Cut the course. He will need to do a stop-and-go penalty and he’ll lose a handful of spots. He fell back t o18th on lap 34 of 95.

Shane Van Gisbergen retakes the lead from Kyle Busch on lap 35, 11 to go in the second stage.

Penalty: Denny Hamlin must serve a stop-and-go for exceeding track limits in turn five. He was inside the top fifteen prior to the penalty.

Penalty: John Hunter Nemechek for violating the pit road commitment line.

The three leaders came to pit road with three laps to go in stage 2.

Kyle Larson had his right front tire come off the car while on the track. The tire made its way off the track and no caution was called. Kyle Larson did make it to pit road. He would finish the race in 32nd position.

At the end of Stage two, Ryan Preece took the stage win, followed by Ryan Blaney, Michael McDowell, Kyle Busch, Shane Van Gisbergen, AJ Allmendinger, William Byron, Bubba Wallace, Christopher Bell, and Daniel Suarez.

Michael McDowell and Kyle Busch led the field to the green flag to start the third and final stage.

Coming out of turn one, Michael McDowell had the edge over Kyle Busch. But Kyle Busch took the lead back just three turns later.

On lap 51, Connor Zilich and Daniel Suarez wreck and bringing out the first caution of the race. Zilichi planted into the outside tire barrier, while Suarez gets to pit road with his right front torn off. It appeared that Suarez lost control, spun, and Zilich had nowhere to go but right into his right front quarter panel. Zilich would finish the race in dead last (37th), and Suarez right in front of him in 36th position.

Kyle Busch and AJ Allmendinger take the green flag with 41 to go. Kyle Busch takes the lead heading to turn two. Christopher Bell gets into the second spot after passing AJ Allmendinger.

The leader (Busch) came to pit road for his final pit stop with 26 laps remaining. Allmendinger came in a lap later. And Christopher Bell finally came in with 24 laps remaining after leading two laps. He would cycle back out in sixth position, and Kyle Busch was in 3rd position, behind Ryan Blaney, and the leader Shane Van Gisbergen.

Ryan Blaney would pit with 23 laps to go. Shane Van Gisbergen would pit with 21 to go, making Kyle Busch the leader once again.

Kyle Busch has not won a race in his last 59 attempts and is currently leading with 21 laps to go. William Byron is in second, and Christopher Bell has made his way up to fourth. Shane Van Gisbergen funnels out of the pits in 8th position.

The Caution flew with 17 laps left. Austin Dillon was hit on the inside by Denny Hamlin and pushed into the gravel. He would need help from the safety crew to pull him out. Dillon would finish the race in 35th position.

The restart came with 14 laps to go with Kyle Busch and William Byron on the front row, and Christopher Bell and AJ Allmendinger behind them. Kyle Busch takes the lead out of turn one with Christopher Bell in second.

Christopher Bell would pass Kyle Busch with five laps remaining. William Byron would then pass by Kyle Busch for second place.

The checkered flag saw Christopher Bell cross the finish line first, followed by William Byron, Tyler Reddick, Chase Elliott and Kyle Busch.

Rounding out the top ten were Shane Van Gisbergen in sixth, followed by Chris Buescher, Noah Gragson, Alex Bowman, and Todd Gilliland.

Christopher Bell’s victory at COTA marks his 11th career Cup Series win and his first time winning back-to-back races. The 2.41-mile, 17-turn road course tested drivers' skill, patience, and strategy, with Bell ultimately outdueling William Byron and Tyler Reddick in the closing laps. As the season heats up, Bell's early momentum positions him as a strong contender for the championship battle ahead.​
