BROOKLYN, Mich. — If anyone questioned whether Corey Heim remains the driver to beat in the 2026 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship battle, those questions were answered Saturday afternoon at Michigan International Speedway.

In a race filled with drafting battles, strategy swings, overheating issues, and a dramatic finish between teammates, Heim held off a furious last-lap challenge from Kaden Honeycutt to win the DQS Solutions & Staffing 250 Powered by Precision Vehicle Logistics, earning his third victory of the 2026 season and the 26th Truck Series win of his career.
The victory did not come easy.

Starting 23rd, Heim spent much of the afternoon methodically working his way through the field while other contenders dominated the spotlight. When the race entered its closing stages, Michigan's wide racing surface transformed into a high-speed chess match where drafting partners became temporary allies and future rivals in a matter of seconds.
By the time the final laps arrived, Heim was exactly where championship-caliber drivers place themselves—within striking distance.

Christopher Bell Controls the Early Stages

The Michigan native thrilled the home-state crowd by leading a race-high 65 laps and consistently placing himself at the front of the field. Hocevar looked poised to deliver a memorable hometown victory as the laps wound down.
However, Michigan's high speeds can create unique challenges.

Late in the event, Hocevar's truck began battling overheating issues. The problem gradually affected his ability to maintain clean air and defend against charging competitors. What appeared to be a winning performance suddenly became a fight just to remain on the podium.

The TRICON Garage Showdown
With approximately 15 laps remaining, the race took a dramatic turn.

TRICON Garage teammates Corey Heim and Kaden Honeycutt found themselves lined up behind the leaders. Using teamwork and perfectly timed drafting pushes, the pair surged forward through the field.

Honeycutt delivered a crucial push that allowed Heim to move into position for the lead. Once Heim cleared Hocevar, the battle shifted from teammates helping each other to teammates fighting for victory.

The decisive moment came on the final lap.

As the leaders encountered slower traffic, Honeycutt made one final move, pulling alongside Heim in a desperate attempt to reach the checkered flag first. The pair raced through traffic while separated by only inches.
For a moment, it appeared Honeycutt might complete the pass.

Instead, Heim executed a near-perfect final lap, maintaining momentum and crossing the finish line just ahead of his teammate to secure the victory.

The finish capped one of the closest and most intense Truck Series battles of the 2026 season.

Corey Heim captured the win ahead of Kaden Honeycutt, while Carson Hocevar salvaged a strong third-place finish after leading the most laps. Front Row Motorsports teammates Layne Riggs and Chandler Smith completed the top five. Christopher Bell finished sixth after sweeping the opening stages. Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Connor Mosack, Jake Garcia, and Tyler Ankrum rounded out the top ten.

Michigan delivered plenty of action throughout the afternoon.

There were 20 lead changes among six different drivers and seven caution periods totaling 34 laps under yellow. The race average speed was 119.984 mph, highlighting the combination of long green-flag runs and late-race restarts that kept the outcome uncertain until the final lap.
