Home is where the wins are! The Arizona Diamondbacks how won both series now on their current home stand, finishing off the St. Louis Cardinals in the “rubber match,” 5-0. But the more impressive news to the start of the season is that the Diamondbacks are currently won every game this season when they score first!

After tying the series with a 4-2 win yesterday, the Diamondbacks looked to their ace to lock up the series win. Zach Gallen went a strong 6.0 innings pitched, striking out seven, including six strikeouts swinging. He also held the Cardinals scoreless in the third inning after a one-out single by Ivan Herrera loaded the bases. He followed with a strikeout and a groundout to third base to end the inning.

As far as the Diamondbacks offense went, they had to try and solve the puzzle of Miles Mikolas. Mikolas pitched well, for the most part. Only allowing one hit through the first four innings (Walker single).

But then in the fifth inning, Walker would lead off with a single to right, followed by a Joc Pederson double to right, putting Walker on third. Jace Peterson would plate the first run on a sac-fly to left, scoring Walker. Jake McCarthy would then Double to right, scoring Joc Pederson from second. After a groundout and a pair of walks, Corbin Carroll would step up with the bases loaded, and knock in Jake McCarthy from third, and moving Ketel Marte to third. Marte would then score on a wild pitch to make it 5-0. Mikalas was then pulled for Andre Pallante would would get Lourdes Gurriel Jr to ground out to third to end the inning.

Miles Mikolas would have a finishing stat line of 4.2 Innings Pitched, 4 hits, 5 runs (all earned), and struck out three on 75 pitches.

Both bullpens did a pretty good job of shutting down the offenses from there as no further runs were scored. The final score of the game was 5-0, Diamondbacks. And with the win, the Diamondbacks continue their impressive streak of being undefeated when they score first.
