Game Summary
Following Monday night’s electric walk-off grand slam, the Arizona Diamondbacks kept the heat on in Game 2, throttling the Seattle Mariners 10-3 in front of a crowd of 25,140 on Filipino Heritage Night.
Starter Brandon Pfaadt improved to 8-4, pitching 5.0 innings before surrendering back-to-back home runs to start the sixth. Despite the short outing, Pfaadt gave the D-backs just what they needed: five strong frames and a chance to win.
The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the third, when Corbin Carroll ripped an RBI triple to right field to score Alek Thomas, followed by a sacrifice fly from Geraldo Perdomo to give Arizona a 2-0 lead. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. launched a solo homer in the fourth, and Josh Naylor drove in a run with a clean RBI single in the fifth, pushing the lead to 4-0.
Seattle cut the lead in half with solo shots from Randy Arozarena and Rowdy Tellez to open the sixth, but Arizona quickly responded. In a massive bottom of the inning, Gabriel Moreno blasted a 3-run homer, Carroll drove in another with his second triple, and Perdomo added another sacrifice fly, extending the lead to 9-2.
Alek Thomas added a solo homer in the eighth, and relievers Taylor Scott and Bryce Jarvis locked things down from there. Jarvis picked up his first career save with three solid innings.
