The Arizona Diamondbacks capped off a perfect weekend with a statement victory, routing the Colorado Rockies 13-6 on Sunday afternoon to secure a three-game sweep. Chase Field buzzed with Kids Day and Pokémon Go promotions, but the biggest fireworks came from the D-backs’ bats.
Rookie catcher Adrian Del Castillo set the tone early with a three-run blast to right in the first inning, staking Brandon Pfaadt to a 3-0 lead. Colorado chipped away, closing the gap to 4-3 by the third inning on RBI hits from Adael Amador and Kyle Karros.

The turning point came in the bottom of the fifth. Arizona sent 12 batters to the plate, exploding for eight runs. Alek Thomas, James McCann, Blaze Alexander, Corbin Carroll, Ketel Marte, and Geraldo Perdomo all drove in runs during the inning, breaking the game wide open at 12-3.

Pfaadt (12-7) earned the win, working five innings with three earned runs allowed. Colorado starter Tanner Gordon (2-5) was tagged for seven runs in 4.2 innings.

The Rockies managed a late push in the seventh, highlighted by a Brenton Doyle two-run homer, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Arizona’s offensive onslaught.

In the seventh, rookie Connor Keiser delivered his first career MLB hit and RBI — a double to center that scored Carroll — drawing a loud ovation from the 24,611 in attendance.

​With the sweep complete, the Diamondbacks improved to 57-61 and will now embark on a seven-game road trip, starting with three games in Texas against the Rangers before heading to Colorado for a four-game set against the Rockies.
