The Arizona Diamondbacks continued their recent surge Monday night with a gritty 1-0 victory over the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field in Arlington. In a game dominated by elite pitching, timely defense, and one clutch swing from Geraldo Perdomo, Arizona leaned on Michael Soroka and a lockdown bullpen performance to secure their third straight win and climb back to the .500 mark.

For the Diamondbacks, this was the exact type of game championship contenders learn how to win — low-scoring, pressure-filled, and dependent on pitching execution from the first inning to the final out.

Early Offense Was All Arizona Needed
The only run of the night came quickly.

Corbin Carroll opened the game aggressively and immediately put pressure on the Rangers defense with a scorching double into the gap. After Carroll moved into scoring position, Geraldo Perdomo delivered the game’s defining moment with an RBI double into the right-field corner that brought Carroll home for the game’s lone run.

That one swing would ultimately decide the outcome.

Although Arizona collected six hits overall, the Diamondbacks offense spent much of the night battling against a surprisingly effective Rangers bullpen game after Texas lost scheduled starter Nathan Eovaldi before first pitch due to side soreness.

Still, Arizona’s pitching staff made sure the early run held up.

Michael Soroka Delivers His Best Start Yet
Michael Soroka was dominant from the opening inning and looked fully in command throughout the night.

The veteran right-hander mixed pitches effectively, worked ahead in counts, and consistently generated weak contact against a Rangers lineup that never found offensive rhythm. Soroka showed outstanding command and efficiency, allowing Arizona manager Torey Lovullo to ride him deep into the game during a tense pitchers’ duel.

More importantly, Soroka continued a major turnaround for Arizona’s starting rotation. Over the past week, the Diamondbacks have seen their starters become one of the hottest groups in baseball, stringing together quality starts while dramatically lowering the team ERA.

For a club that struggled with consistency earlier in the season, Arizona’s rotation suddenly looks like a legitimate strength.

Arizona Bullpen Finishes the Shutout
Once Soroka exited in the seventh inning, Arizona’s bullpen took over and slammed the door shut.

Brandyn Garcia and Taylor Clarke handled critical late innings before Paul Sewald entered in the ninth to close things out. Sewald once again looked calm under pressure, collecting his ninth save of the season while remaining perfect in save opportunities.

The Rangers never mounted a serious threat during the final innings, as Arizona’s pitching staff combined for a four-hit shutout.

Rangers Waste Strong Bullpen Performance
Texas entered the night facing adversity before the first pitch was even thrown.

Nathan Eovaldi was scratched from his scheduled start with left side soreness, forcing manager Bruce Bochy to improvise with a bullpen-heavy approach. Despite the sudden change, Rangers pitchers actually performed well enough to win.

Jakob Junis handled the emergency start and allowed only the lone first-inning run before Texas relievers settled the game down completely. Peyton Gray was especially effective in relief, helping keep Arizona’s offense quiet for much of the night.

But the Rangers offense never responded.

Texas managed only four hits and rarely generated meaningful scoring opportunities. Arizona pitchers neutralized the heart of the Rangers lineup all evening, continuing a troubling offensive trend for Texas that has surfaced repeatedly throughout the season.

Corey Seager and the Rangers offense have struggled to produce consistently, and Monday night became another frustrating example of missed opportunities and stagnant bats.

Corbin Carroll Continues to Spark Arizona

Even in a low-scoring game, Carroll’s aggressive approach immediately changed the tone offensively. His first-inning double created instant momentum and showcased the elite speed and explosiveness that make him one of baseball’s most dangerous young stars.

Arizona’s offense often looks different when Carroll is setting the pace at the top of the lineup. His ability to pressure defenses, create scoring chances, and ignite rallies remains critical to the Diamondbacks’ success moving forward.

Diamondbacks Building Momentum at the Right Time
Monday’s win pushed Arizona back to 20-20 on the season and extended their winning streak to three games.

More importantly, the Diamondbacks are finally beginning to resemble the balanced team many expected entering the year. While the offense still has room for improvement, Arizona’s pitching staff has carried the team through several tight games recently and is quickly becoming one of the club’s defining strengths.

Winning close road games against quality American League opponents is often a sign of a team gaining confidence and identity over the course of a long MLB season.
