Diamondbacks Rally Behind Marte to Even Series vs. Rangers

On Arizona State University Night at Chase Field, the Arizona Diamondbacks gave their fans plenty to cheer about with a gritty comeback victory over the Texas Rangers. A late-game surge highlighted by Ketel Marte’s clutch three-run homer powered Arizona to a 5–3 win, evening the series after Texas took the opener in extras the night before.
Early Pitching Duel
Both starters — Jacob Latz for Texas and Nabil Crismatt for Arizona — held the line through the opening frames. Crismatt worked out of early traffic, while Latz kept Arizona off the board despite Marte’s 119.6 mph career-best double in the first inning.
Texas Strikes First
The Rangers broke through in the third when Michael Helman ripped a triple and later scored on a Wyatt Langford sacrifice fly. In the fourth, Alejandro Osuna dropped in an RBI single, extending Texas’ lead to 2–0.
Arizona Answers Back
It wasn’t until the sixth that the D-backs showed life. With one out, Corbin Carroll walked and Gabriel Moreno was hit by a pitch. Blaze Alexander came through with an RBI single, and Ildemaro Vargas tied it up with a sacrifice fly. Suddenly, the momentum had shifted at 2–2.
Marte Delivers the Big Blow
The breakthrough came in the seventh. With two men on, Ketel Marte launched a towering three-run homer to left field, sending the 22,000+ in attendance into a frenzy. Arizona jumped ahead 5–2 and never looked back.
Closing It Out
Texas scratched one back in the ninth when Ezequiel Duran doubled and scored on a groundout, but Taylor Rashi shut the door to record his second save.
