No, that wasn't a typo.  The game tonight at Chase Field was called after the sixth inning due to rain at Chase Field.  It's not unusual for a baseball game to be delayed or even postponed due to rain.  It is unusual for it to happen in Phoenix Arizona where they play in a dome stadium with a retractable roof.  However, due to a mechanical issue where the roof can't be operated with fans inside, the game was called because they had no way to keep the field dry for however long it would rain.  Also, because it is technically an "indoor stadium," there is no tarp available to put on the field as there is for all outdoor stadiums.

​With that being said, the six-inning game was very entertaining from the Diamondbacks perspective.  There were a few standout players who were able to contribute offensively and on the mound.

​Christian Walker started off the scoring with a monster shot to left-centerfield when he led off in the bottom of the second inning.  After two quick outs, Eugenio Suarez would walk, followed by an Alek Thomas double to centerfield, followed by another double by Geraldo Perdomo which scored both runners.  
​
​In the bottom of the third inning, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. started off the offense with a single to centerfield.  Christian Walker would again produce with a double to left field, and then Joc Pederson would ground out to third, scoring Gurriel Jr. for the only run of the inning.  At the end of the third inning, the Diamondbacks were up over the Guardians, 4-0.

​In the bottom of the 4th, the only scoring came after an RBI triple from the NL Rookie of the Year, Corbin Carroll (he's on my fantasy team!).  Carroll would knock in Alek Thomas, who walked earlier in the inning.  

After being kept off the board in the 5th, Alek Thomas would clear the wall in left-center for his first home run of the spring.

​And that's when the rain came sending fans scrambling for cover in the Chase Field concourse.  
​
​From a pitching standpoint, Tommy Henry looked sharp on the mound.  He went all six innings for the Diamondbacks, allowing a scattering of six hits, zero walks, along with four strikeouts and no runs allowed. 
​
​The Diamondbacks will be back at it at Chase Field (weather permitting, LOL!) for an early afternoon exhibition game against the Guardians as we approach Opening Day at Chase Field on Thursday.
