🏁 Full Throttle at Pocono: Briscoe, Zilisch, and Riggs Steal the Show in NASCAR Tripleheader

Wednesday, June 25, 2025

🛻 Friday – Truck Series: MillerTech Battery 200

Winner: Layne Riggs (Front Row Motorsports)
Race Distance: 60 laps / 150 miles
Stages:

  • Stage 1: Corey Heim
  • Stage 2: Corey Heim

Race Recap:

Corey Heim was unstoppable through the first two stages, leading a race-high 48 laps. But with just eight laps remaining, a catastrophic flat tire derailed what looked like a surefire win. Layne Riggs capitalized, storming to the front and never looking back. He pulled away from Tanner Gray to secure his third career win and his first of the 2025 season.

Notables:

  • Tanner Gray finished second, with Kaden Honeycutt rounding out the podium.
  • Carson Hocevar was penalized for a restart violation, killing his momentum late.
  • Riggs becomes a legitimate playoff threat as the series nears its cutoff point.

📺 Saturday – Xfinity Series: Explore the Pocono Mountains 250

Winner: Connor Zilisch (JR Motorsports)
Race Distance: 100 laps / 250 miles
Stages:

  • Stage 1: Riley Herbst
  • Stage 2: Jesse Love

Race Recap:

18-year-old phenom Connor Zilisch etched his name into the NASCAR history books by grabbing his first career oval win in the Xfinity Series. The victory came in dramatic fashion as he held off Jesse Love in a four-lap dash to the finish, winning by just 0.437 seconds.

But the bigger story? His crew chief was Dale Earnhardt Jr., filling in while Mardy Lindley served a suspension. Junior brought both leadership and hands-on support—literally jumping in to help with pit stops. This marks Dale Jr.'s first win as a crew chief and adds a new layer to the Zilisch-JRM storyline.

Notables:

  • Zilisch’s win gives JR Motorsports their fourth win of the season.
  • Zilisch also took the points lead in the rookie standings.
  • Post-race inspection cleared without issue.

🏁 Sunday – Cup Series: The Great American Getaway 400

Winner: Chase Briscoe (Joe Gibbs Racing)
Race Distance: 160 laps / 400 miles
Stages:

  • Stage 1: Denny Hamlin
  • Stage 2: Chase Briscoe

Race Recap:

The Cup Series headliner was delayed 2.5 hours due to heavy rains, but once the green flag dropped, fans were treated to a grueling battle of strategy, speed, and survival.

Chase Briscoe emerged victorious, holding off teammate Denny Hamlin in the final stage. Briscoe’s No. 19 car had excellent long-run speed, and his pit crew delivered a flawless final stop. After taking control late, Briscoe gapped the field and cruised across the line with a comfortable lead of nearly six seconds.

Scary Moment:

After finishing third, Ryan Blaney collapsed on pit road—twice—after exiting his car. The cause? A cooling suit malfunction that left him overheated and dehydrated. He was helped by medical personnel and, despite the scare, was reported to be recovering well.

Notables:

  • William Byron looked strong early but faded to P7. He remains the points leader.
  • Martin Truex Jr. finished 5th in what could be one of his final Pocono starts.
  • Ty Gibbs and Christopher Bell were fast early but faded due to late adjustments.
  • Post-race inspection cleared Briscoe; additional review on Elliott and Bell underway.
