​The Goodyear 400 at Darlington Raceway—known as the "Lady in Black"—delivered yet another unforgettable NASCAR Cup Series race filled with dominance, drama, and a dash of Darlington magic. With 400.2 miles of grueling action across 293 laps, this historic oval once again proved it can chew up and spit out even the best in the field.

Stage 1: Byron Blazes Early
Pole-sitter William Byron rocketed to an early lead and never looked back—literally. Despite an early caution on Lap 4 after Kyle Larson spun and hit the inside wall, Byron led every lap of Stage 1, showcasing unmatched speed and precision.

Carson Hocevar brought out two cautions during the stage, brushing the wall early and then spinning after contact with Riley Herbst. Meanwhile, Byron’s pit crew stayed flawless, keeping him at the front after every stop.

Stage 2: Record-Breaking Run
Byron’s dominance continued into Stage 2, leading every lap up to Lap 109—breaking Bill Elliott’s 1988 record for most consecutive laps led to start a Darlington race. But challenges brewed behind him. Tyler Reddick and Ryan Blaney began creeping closer with strong long-run speed.

After a Lap 135 caution from Brad Keselowski's spin, Byron’s pit crew again nailed the stop, keeping him out front. He took Stage 2 with relative ease, despite Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin applying pressure.

Final Stage: Tire Strategy and Late-Race Fireworks
Just one lap into the final stage, Josh Berry spun, triggering another caution. As the race wore on, green-flag pit stops began on Lap 236. Byron pitted on Lap 244, surrendering the lead briefly to Hamlin, but returned strong to battle back toward the front.

Tyler Reddick, on older tires, took the lead on Lap 249 and held it until late. But Ryan Blaney closed the gap and, with just 3 laps to go, passed Reddick for the lead.

That’s when chaos struck.

Kyle Larson spun again, bringing out a caution just as Blaney was pulling away, setting up an overtime finish.

Overtime Drama: Hamlin Seizes the Moment
All lead lap cars pitted, with Denny Hamlin emerging as the new race leader off pit road. In the overtime restart, Hamlin made a clean jump on Byron and Reddick and never looked back.

🏁 Denny Hamlin captured his 5th career victory at Darlington, outlasting a wild day and surviving the high-pressure final laps in classic fashion.
