FORT WORTH, TX – The NASCAR Xfinity Series delivered chaos, heartbreak, and triumph at Texas Motor Speedway in the Andy’s Frozen Custard 300, as Kyle Larson, subbing for injured Connor Zilisch, captured his second Xfinity victory of the season in a dramatic double overtime finish.

The 200-lap race on the 1.5-mile oval saw everything from multi-car wrecks to fuel strategy gambles, and ultimately ended with Larson taking the checkered flag ahead of Taylor Gray and Riley Herbst after a day of relentless caution flags and late-race chaos.

A Race Filled With Cautions, Lead Changes, and Heartbreak
Without practice or qualifying due to inclement weather, Justin Allgaier started on the pole alongside Austin Hill and quickly asserted dominance, leading the opening stage and collecting his 7th stage win of the season.

But despite leading a race-high 99 laps, Allgaier’s day ended in heartbreak after a late incident with a slowing Kris Wright with 45 laps remaining. Wright, multiple laps down, slowed exiting turn four, leaving Allgaier with nowhere to go and ending his bid for a first Texas win in his 28th career start at the track.

Austin Hill won Stage 2 but had to fend off fierce challenges throughout the day from Allgaier, Larson, and Nick Sanchez. The leaders cycled through green flag pit stops in the final stage, setting up a tense closing segment.

Larson Capitalizes in Chaos
A massive 10-car pileup with 103 laps remaining eliminated contenders like Sheldon Creed and Jesse Love and set the tone for the caution-plagued final stage. Further wrecks, including Corey Day’s hard hit and Sammy Smith’s late incident, pushed the race into double overtime, the fifth in Texas Xfinity history.

In the first overtime, Sam Mayer led Sanchez and Larson, but an incident with Jeremy Clements forced another restart. On the final restart, Larson surged ahead of Mayer, while Sanchez scraped the wall and faded, allowing Larson to secure his 17th career Xfinity win and the 5th win of the season for JR Motorsports.

“It was a wild one,” Larson said in victory lane. “Happy to be able to step in for Connor and get this team another win.”
