It was truly “wreckers or checkers” at the finish line on Sunday evening at the AdventHealth 400 at Kansas Speedway. In perhaps the most exciting finish I will ever witness during my lifetime, Kyle Larson “edged out” (that’s an under statement) the #17 of Chris Buescher to take the wild win!

The margin of victory was shown as 0.001 seconds, the closest finish in NASCAR Cup Series history. And I was still trying to recover from the finish at the Kentucky Derby on Saturday where Mystic Dan took home the victory by a nose over Sierra Leone.

On top of that, I watched my Boston Bruins take the series in a thrilling Game 7 overtime win against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night.

But Sunday night was all about the action at Kansas Speedway. Which of course, we had to wait through a rain delay for. But with the rain, usually comes a clean and extremely fast track. And we don’t watch NASCAR just for the wrecks (don’t fact-check that), we watch it for the speed!

In total, the race had 27 lead changes between ten different drivers, including multiple changes in the final lap of the race. For the majority of the race, there were no cautions until Lap 176 when Corey LaJoie wiped out Jimmy Johnson. Neither driver was in position to battle for the win at the time.

But OH, what a finish! Chris Buescher took the White Flag as the leader with Kyle Larson just a car length behind. Larson dove to the outside in Turn 3, coming door-to-door with Buescher. The two made contact coming out of Turn 4, and Larson would edge in front for the win and the closest finish in NASCAR history.

Larson would finish on top, followed by Chris Buescher, Chase Elliott, Martin Truex Jr., and Denny Hamlin. Christopher Bell (Pole winner) would finish in sixth.

Biggest mover of the race: Brad Keselowski (+19 spots) started in 30th, and finished in 11th.
Biggest dropper of the race: Austin Cindric (-30 spots) started 7th, finished 37th.
