Pittsburgh improved to 19-17 with the win, while Arizona dropped back to .500 at 17-17 after managing only two hits all night against the Pirates pitching staff.

Paul Skenes Dominates Diamondbacks at Chase Field
Pirates ace Paul Skenes once again proved why he is becoming one of Major League Baseball’s most feared young pitchers.

The hard-throwing right-hander carved through Arizona’s lineup with elite command and efficiency, completing 8 innings of 2-hit baseball while striking out 7 Diamondbacks hitters in a dominant road performance at Chase Field.
Skenes was in complete control from the opening inning, attacking hitters early in counts and keeping Arizona off balance throughout the game. By the end of the sixth inning, he had thrown only 68 pitches, highlighting just how efficient the Pirates ace was during his outing.

The Diamondbacks finished the game with just two hits and struck out repeatedly against Skenes and Pittsburgh’s bullpen.

Their best opportunity came during the fifth inning when Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and Nolan Arenado collected back-to-back singles with two outs. However, Gabriel Moreno lined out to right field to end the threat.

Arizona attempted one final rally in the ninth inning after Geraldo Perdomo worked a walk with one out, but Gregory Soto shut the door to earn his second save of the season. Ketel Marte flew out to right before Corbin Carroll grounded out to first base to end the game.

Bryan Reynolds Records 1,000th Career Hit
One of the biggest milestones of the night belonged to Pirates outfielder Bryan Reynolds.

Reynolds recorded the 1,000th hit of his MLB career during the third inning when he singled to right field against Soroka.

The veteran outfielder continues to be a key piece of Pittsburgh’s lineup and added another memorable moment during an already impressive night for the Pirates organization.

Pirates Bullpen Completes the Shutout
After Skenes dominated through eight innings, the Pirates bullpen finished off the victory in the ninth.

Gregory Soto earned the save by retiring Arizona in the final frame and preserving Pittsburgh’s shutout victory. The Pirates pitching staff combined for one of its strongest performances of the season while completely silencing the Diamondbacks lineup.

The win also showcased Pittsburgh’s growing confidence on the road as they continue to climb in the National League standings.
